Despite its age and renown in the medical field, though, medical malpractice still happens at the Pennsylvania Hospital. Indeed, anywhere that medical services are provided and patients see doctors and surgeons for their medical needs, there exists the possibility that those professionals make a mistake, act negligently, or make a poor decision. Whenever this happens, though, it can be devastating for the person who happens to be the patient at the time. If you or someone you love has the misfortune to be that patient, you need compensation. The medical malpractice attorneys at the Philadelphia law office of Gilman & Bedigian can get it for you.
History of the Pennsylvania Hospital
The Pennsylvania Hospital was founded in May 1751, by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond, making it the first public hospital established in the U.S. The hospital moved into the main building, where it remains to this day, in 1756. The building itself is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most historically-significant buildings in Philadelphia, a city known for them. Among the important features of the building were its medical library, the first in the country, and the surgical amphitheater, also the first in the U.S.
Since then, the Pennsylvania Hospital has developed specialties that have made it a destination hospital for particular patients across the country, all while remaining the teaching hospital for the Perelman School of Medicine, the medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.
