History of Nazareth Hospital
Nazareth Hospital was founded in 1940 by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. This Congregation had been established in Rome in 1875, with eleven nuns coming to the United States in 1885 to spread the mission through education and healthcare.
The Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia was one of the medical facilities that this Congregation organized, opening on March 9, 1940 – the eve of World War II – with 116 beds. Since then, the ownership of the Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia has passed from the Congregation to the Franciscan Health System, in 1995, and then to Catholic Heath East, in 2001, which then joined with the Trinity Health organization in 2013.
Since its inception, Nazareth Hospital has grown to include programs and facilities that provide care in a wide variety of areas, including maternal care, surgical procedures, cancer and radiation therapy, and rehabilitation.
Nazareth Hospital Today
Today, Nazareth Hospital has nearly doubled its inpatient facilities, and how has more than 200 beds. It also has numerous programs and facilities for outpatients in the Philadelphia area, as well.
The hospital’s program for knee and hip replacements has even been distinguished by Blue Cross, and its center for stroke care was named as one of the 100 best in America by HealthGrades.
Medical Malpractice at Nazareth Hospital
However, even the best medical and hospital facilities in the U.S. have numerous instances of medical malpractice every year. Doctors and other healthcare professionals are human, too, and make mistakes or act negligently. Unfortunately, when this happens, it can be disastrous to your health and require extensive medical treatment and cause severe amounts of pain and suffering that you did not deserve.
In some of these cases, the poor conduct of your treating physician or other medical personnel can amount to medical malpractice.
Medical malpractice in Philadelphia occurs when a medical professional – whether a surgeon, doctor, nurse, or other practitioner – acts negligently or provides medical care that cannot pass for reasonably adequate for your needs.
In these cases, you could suffer severe injuries from the malpractice, or the malpractice can cause the kinds of medical complications that make your life much more difficult.
This is why the medical malpractice attorneys at the Philadelphia law office of Gilman & Bedigian represent malpractice victims. Contact us online to get started on your case.
