Other Services

There are many more regional and local hospitals that may diagnose and treat various levels of breast cancer within the state of Pennsylvania. Often, smaller hospitals will partner with larger, metropolitan medical centers or universities to consult on cancer cases or receive guidance for cancer treatment and referrals. Not every hospital is equipped to administer radiation and chemotherapy or perform surgery. For this reason, the preceding medical centers most likely interact with the majority of cancer patients in Pennsylvania. In addition, patients may have come into contact with the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC), which provides information, support, patient advocacy, and services to those undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

The PBCC also coordinates distribution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment program (BCCPT), which is federally funded. This program provides cancer screening and prevention services to underinsured or uninsured women across the country.
