About Charles
As managing partner and co-founder of Gilman & Bedigian, it is my mission to help our clients recover and get their lives back on track. I strongly believe that every person who has been injured by the wrongful conduct of another deserves fair compensation for their injuries. I started this firm with H. Briggs Bedigian, a good friend and respected trial attorney, because we are both fighters who won’t hesitate to take cases to trial in seeking redress for our client’s injuries.I am proud of the tough reputation my firm has developed and the case results we have achieved.
An attorney’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with often makes insurance companies, and their lawyers, settle a case for fair value. When they see my name on your case they’ll know that if they don’t agree to make you whole, they are in for a fight. That is because as a seasoned trial attorney, I have a track record of fighting hard for my clients. I have extensive experience practicing personal injury law in the Mid-Atlantic region including Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. My practice focuses on medical malpractice, car accidents, nursing home negligence and abuse, dog bites, slip and fall accidents, and most other types of personal injury cases.
Results
I am proud to say I've been a part of recovering in excess of $200,000,000 for injured clients through jury verdicts and settlements. Here are just a few recent case results:
- $182,000,000, Birth Injury: Hagans v. Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
- $34,000,000, Birth Injury: Anderson v. University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center
- $20,000,000, Intellectual property dispute: Adcor Industries, Inc. v. Beretta USA Corp.
- $13,300.000, Birth Injury: Lewis v. Upper Chesapeake Medical Center
- $4,200,000 Medical Malpractice: Dallatezza v. Charles L. Schnee, M.D. and Hennessy, Shuey, & Schnee
My legal experience extends beyond personal injury law. I have represented numerous claimants in class action lawsuits and shareholder derivative claims. These cases have resulted in multi-million dollar recoveries for the class members and shareholders. I have also served as general counsel to various corporations operating in several states, representing them in a range of regulatory, corporate and litigation-related issues. Though I take pride in all work I have done, it is my personal injury work that has made me the most proud. As an example, I represented clients in a catastrophic injury case. A child went swimming in his neighbor’s pool and nearly drowned before being pulled out of the water. Unfortunately, he will live the rest of his life in a vegetative state. This lawsuit settled before trial in excess of $5 million dollars, money that will be used to take care of the child for the rest of his life. Cases like this are tragic. While no amount of money can change what happened, my firm and I strive to help our clients receive fair compensation so all those affected by accidents and injuries can move forward with their lives.
Awards and Honors
I was selected as a Super Lawyer Magazine Rising Star from 2009-2014. No more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the state are named to the Rising Stars list. In addition I was named a Super Lawyer from 2015-2022. No more than 5% of lawyers in the state are selected as Super Lawyers. I was also selected for inclusion in The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and am a member of the President’s Club of the Maryland Association of Justice. It is my mission to help our clients recover and get their lives back on track.
