Woman Dead And Man Critically Injured In Philadelphia Car Accident

A 22-year-old woman died and a man was critically injured after a car ran allegedly a red light in north Philadelphia. According to police, a car was driving along Front Street just after midnight on Tuesday when it collided with another car at the Hunting Park Avenue intersection.

It appears one of the cars ran the red light, but police don’t know which car it was. The driver of the car that was hit at the intersection did not need medical treatment at the scene and claimed he was not injured. But the two passengers in the other car were both seriously injured.

The driver of that second car is a 32-year-old man who suffered internal injuries and is now in critical condition. The passenger was a 22-year-old woman who died of her injuries after being transported to the hospital after the accident.

This tragic Philadelphia car accident is being investigated by police, who are trying to determine which car may have run the red light.

Philadelphia Car Accidents Involving Traffic Control Devices

In this case, it’s not known which car ran the red light, or that one even did for sure. This will hopefully be determined by the auto accident investigation. But in some cases, accidents are caused by faulty traffic control devices that have not been recently checked or calibrated, so they could be defective.

For example, a stop sign could be knocked down or blocked by overgrown trees, causing drivers to collide with each other when one doesn’t stop. Or a traffic light could be timed wrong or simply malfunction altogether. This could mean drivers get a red light for several minutes, even when there’s no oncoming traffic, causing them to feel they have to proceed through the intersection while the light is red.

On the other hand, a badly timed light might turn yellow or red seconds after it turned green, not giving drivers enough time to clear the intersection before the other side gets a green light. This could result in a serious multiple vehicle car accident that causes property damage, serious injuries, and even death.

Hiring a Philadelphia Car Accident Attorney

If you have reason to believe your Philadelphia auto accident was caused by a faulty traffic control signal, it’s a good idea to find out your legal options after the crash. If you’re able to prove that there was an issue with the signal, you may be able to pursue compensation from the city.

This would mean the city’s insurance would pay for your damages, including medical bills, lost income, and car repair bills. Of course, you’ll likely need help proving this claim, which is why you need to hire an experienced Philadelphia car accident attorney who has experience with cases like yours.

As you recover from any injuries from your car accident, now is the time to start talking to a legal representative to find out how to proceed with your case. Contact a Philadelphia car accident attorney today to schedule an initial consultation to get started.
