Maryland Man Dies In Car Accident On Route 15

A man is dead and a child injured after a serious car accident on Route 15 on Monday. According to Maryland State Police, 31-year-old Arik Knapp was driving his Mazda 3 north on Route 15 near Mountville Road when another vehicle hit his car as he started to cross into the next lane. The vehicle that hit him was a Dodge 3500 that was hauling a trailer with cars on it.

Knapp was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. There was also a child in his car who was taken to the hospital for injuries, and the driver of the Dodge was taken to a local hospital, as well. The car accident shut down Route 15 for several hours so the police had time to investigate what happened.

What To Do After a Car Accident in Maryland

Devastating car accidents like this one are not uncommon. Whether you’re a driver or passenger who has been involved in a serious car accident, you need legal guidance so you can determine the best way to proceed afterward. If you’re dealing with serious injuries and/or the death of a loved one due to a car accident, you deserve help from a personal injury attorney who has experience with cases like yours.

For this reason, after a car accident in Maryland, you should first focus on getting the medical help you need directly after the crash. Once you’re on the way to recovery, contact a lawyer to discuss your legal options. Simply allowing the insurance company to process your claim could leave you without the full compensation you deserve for your injuries, pain and suffering, lost wages, and property damage. It’s best to let a lawyer handle the details of your personal injury case so you can focus on recovering after an accident.

Types of Damages in a Personal Injury Case

When you initiate a personal injury case in Maryland after a car accident in Maryland, you may be able to collect three types of damages:

  1. Economic: This applies to compensation you might get to pay for property damage, medical expenses, and lost wages as you recover from the accident.
  2. Noneconomic: This refers to the non-monetary expenses following a car accident, which can include pain and suffering, disfigurement, inconvenience, and loss of consortium.
  3. Punitive: These damages don’t compensate the victim, but instead focus on punishing the responsible party in order to deter the behavior from happening again.

Car accidents often lead to devastation, as they can cause injuries that take months or years to fully recover from or even leave you permanently disfigured. This is why it’s so important to seek legal help after a Maryland auto accident.

An experienced personal injury attorney can guide you through your case from start to finish, letting you know which types of damages to pursue and what kind of compensation you deserve. So, if you were involved in a serious car accident in Maryland and want to find out your legal options, contact a personal injury lawyer serving your area today!
